Minister Ronald Lamola launches prison radio station

The Brandvlei Correctional Centre has launched the continent’s first-ever prison radio station. Basic Radio 98.7 is digital and operated by inmates.

Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola recently launched the station and was on air alongside prominent radio personality, Phat Joe.

“I’m here with a message. I’m going to take this station nationwide. You guys will be heard coast to coast. I’m talking to your managers and programme directors right now”, said Phat Joe.
