Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says 10 million households qualify for free Electricity

Electricity and Energy minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says 10 million households qualify for Free Basic Electricity, but only 2 million currently have access to it due to several registration delays.
Ramokgopa says poor households must be protected from load shedding and load reduction. He emphasised the government’s commitment to making electricity more affordable, particularly for the poor who need it most.
The Minster was addressing the media this morning and said failure to address high tariffs would leave communities facing longer periods without electricity.
