Case against military veterans accused of kidnapping postponed

The case against the military veterans, arrested for kidnapping last year, has been postponed.

The group has appeared briefly in the Pretoria magistrate’s court.

The veterans are accused of taking two ministers and a deputy minister hostage at the St George Hotel in Centurion.

They barred Defence Minister Thandi Modise, her deputy Thabang Makwetla and Minister in the Presidency, Mondli Gungubele, from leaving a meeting and held them for three hours.

The police’s Special Task Force freed the hostages.

The veterans were all charged with kidnapping, and are out on bail of R500 each.

They will be back in court on 17 May.
