Multiple people injured in Midrand taxi crash

Gauteng: At 07H48 Friday morning Netcare 911 attended a serious collision on Church street in Halfway House Midrand.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a mini-bus taxi lost control resulting in the taxi crashing into a light pole.

Approximately eight patients sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene.

An adult female believed to be in her thirties sustained serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise her.

The Fire and Rescue Services had to use hydraulic tools to free her from the wreckage.

Netcare 2 a specialised helicopter ambulance was activated via the Emerg-G-Med Tactical Response Team to airlift the serious injured patient to a specialist facility.

Once the other patients were stabilized, they were transported by various ambulance services to the hospital for further treatment.

All necessary authorities were on the scene.
