Metrobus up and running following SAMWU strike

Johannesburg’s Metrobus service is up and running again after a wildcat strike that left commuters in the lurch.
Some bus drivers affiliated with the South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) embarked on a work stoppage on Wednesday, leaving thousands of Metrobus commuters desperate for alternative transport.
A meeting was held between the bus service and disgruntled employees on Thursday who were aggrieved over a number of issues related to wages and shifts.
Metrobus spokesperson Tshepo Nathan says all routes are now operational.
“Following disruption in our services since the afternoon of Wednesday, we have now resumed services, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our commuters.”
