Metro cop shot dead in Verulam

A metro police officer has been shot dead in Verulam. The off-duty officer was gunned down on the R102 in a suspected assassination. Metro police confirmed the victim as an inspector stationed in Verulam.

Prem Balram of Reaction Unit South Africa says the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and face.

Balram added that it was confirmed that the victim was part-owner of eight taxis and was involved in the taxi industry.
