Mercedes-AMG Reveals A35 and A45 on Performance Tour

The recently updated A35 AMG 4Matic represents the epitome of sportiness in the A-Class model series, while the flagship A45 S 4Matic+ and the A35 4Matic have also received significant updates. The A35 boasts refined aesthetics, aligning itself with the distinctive design language of the AMG family. Customers can choose between the Hatchback and Saloon variants for the A35, while the A45 S is available exclusively as a Hatchback model, providing options to cater to different preferences and driving needs.

The exterior of the new Mercedes-AMG A-Class features a revised front with AMG-specific elements, such as a new radiator grille, round badge with the AMG emblem, and a redesigned front apron. The interior continues with mild updates, with the AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG steering wheel buttons, and AMG performance seats. The latest MBUX infotainment system with increased performance and improved connectivity enhances the driving experience.

The Mercedes-AMG A35 is equipped with a 48-volt auxiliary power supply and belt-driven starter-generator (RSG), offering an output of 225 kW and a maximum torque of 400 N.m. As a mild hybrid, the RSG provides 10 kW more power at start-up. The A45 S 4Matic+ delivers considerably more power with a total output of 310 kW and 500 N.m, resulting in a rapid 0-100 km/h sprint time of just 3,9 seconds.

In addition to the A-Class updates, the limited-edition Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4Matic is now available in South Africa, limited to only 35 vehicles. It features model-specific design elements, such as the AMG-specific radiator grille, front splitter, rear apron with two round tailpipe trim elements, and AMG roof spoiler in black. The GLB 35 AMG offers a powerful 2,0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine delivering the same 225 kW and 400 N.m from the A 35 to all four wheels through the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 8G transmission and AMG Performance 4Matic all-wheel drive.

Pricing on the three models is yet to be released, but they will expectedly come in more than the current derivatives. For context, the A35 sedan 4Matic is currently priced at R1 136 946, A35 hatch 4Matic at R1 243 353 and the flagship A45 S hatch 4Matic+ will set buyers back R1 393 493.
