RIP: Memorial service to be held for cop killed on duty in Mamre

Police officers will gather at an Atlantis church later Wednesday morning in memory of a sergeant who was killed in the line of duty.

Sergeant Adrian Mahoney was shot dead a week ago.

Mahoney was shot and killed with his own service pistol while responding to a domestic dispute in the Mamre area.

Police said the suspect resisted arrest and a scuffle broke out.

The suspect then opened fire on the deceased official’s partner before running away. That officer wasn’t hurt.

Police traced the suspect the following day, but he was shot dead after refusing to surrender and pointing the state firearm at police officers.

Earlier in the week, a constable was shot and wounded while on duty in Kensington and admitted to hospital in a serious condition.
