Tshwane investigating Mayor Makwarela’s rehabilitation notice

Tshwane’s Legal Services Department is probing a rehabilitation notice sent by Mayor Murunwa Makwarela.
City Manager Johann Mettler says various issues have been brought to his attention regarding the letter.
Makwarela was disqualified from taking up his position as Mayor after the Independent Electoral Commission flagged that he was an unrehabilitated insolvent.
On Thursday, Makwarela produced a letter declaring he was rehabilitated and he was then reinstated as Mayor.
Legal experts say there are several noticeable inconsistencies in the document and they have questioned its validity.
