Heavy police presence as Ladysmith protesters want mayor axed

There was a heavy police presence in Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday afternoon. Tensions were high as protesters demanded the removal of Alfred Duma Municipality Mayor Vincent Madlala.
Residents blame Madlala for the lack of service delivery and accuse him of being involved in taxi violence in the area.
Officers and protesters have been clashing.
