Max Mqadi’s security beefed up after shooting

SECURITY has been tightened at Max’s Lifestyle in V section of Umlazi, south of Durban, after the shooting of its owner, Max Mqadi.

The establishment issued a statement on Instagram, revealing that patrols would be ramped up.

“We have taken additional measures to increase security around our precinct. We are also working with law enforcement authorities to ramp up patrols,” read the statement.

Mqadi was shot twice, allegedly by two unknown men, on Thursday evening inside his car outside the premises.

According to KZN police spokesman Brigadier Jay Naicker, Mqadi managed to drive to Florida Road in Durban, where he was then taken to hospital.

The motive of the shooting is still unknown, and cops are investigating a case of attempted murder.

The eThekwini Municipality and Durban Tourism wished Mqadi a speedy recovery.

Municipality spokesman Msawakhe Mayisela said in a statement that Max’s Lifestyle was one of the tourist attraction eateries in the province, and assured visitors that Durban was safe.

“Our tourism attraction continues to be safe, offering excellent value for money in addition to superior visitor experience.”
