Massive manhunt underway for escaped prisoners in Malmesbury

A manhunt is underway in Malmesbury in the Western Cape. Police and correctional services officials are searching for several awaiting-trial prisoners who escaped on Friday afternoon.

The operation consists of officers on foot and in vehicles. Members of the public are advised not to try to apprehend the escapees but rather to contact the authorities. It’s not yet clear how many fugitives remain on the run.
