KZN police investigating Glebelands Hostel mass murder
KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating the latest mass shooting to rock the Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi.
Gunmen opened fire in one of the rooms at the hostel on Saturday, killing seven people on the spot.
An eighth victim died in hospital on Sunday morning.
Police spokesperson Jay Naicker has ruled out a resurgence of violence that plagued the hostel between 2014 and 2016.
He said, “provincial task team is investigating this matter, unfortunately, the motive is not coming out, but we know the history of KZN, that a minor thing can lead to this, it’s possible that one of them was a target, but others were there at the wrong place at the wrong time.”
“So we also established that there were three gunmen, KZN is known for multiple murders, Glebelands like any other area in KZN has murders, we appeal for people with information to come out.”
