ANC Mpumalanga suspends provincial treasurer Mandla Msibi

The African National Congress (ANC) in Mpumalanga has again suspended Mandla Msibi, who is the party’s treasurer, following allegations that he attempted to sabotage the party’s 112th birthday rally last week.
Msibi is accused of engaging in disruptive behaviour thus contravening the organisation’s constitution.
This includes alleged attempts to block supporters from attending the annual January 8 statement and birthday rally in Mpumalanga.
The publication understands Msibi also made several demands to party president Cyril Ramaphosa including calls for an urgent cabinet meeting over the multi-billion rand Nkosi Smart City project.
In 2022, Msibi was elected provincial treasurer in absentia following a decision for him to step aside in the wake of murder charges.
He was later reinstated and appointed as an MEC after the National Prosecuting Authority withdrew the matter.
ANC Mpumalanga spokesperson Sam Masango:
“When there is a suspension, you allow the organisation space, we allow you space as well, to do the necessary consultation. We encourage comrades to then respect these processes, they are part of helping the comrades to understand what other challenges the organisation has detected in regard to organisational obligations.”
