Position Title: ICT Vendor Manager

Employee Group: Permanent

Position Purpose:

Develop and implement the vendor relationship strategies, and work closely with the business and IT to understand their needs, while serving as the IT point of contact for all purchases, deliveries, and problems with products and services from ICT vendors.

  • Plan and involve general systems, process guidelines/procedures, and the coordination of these processes to ensure the efficiency and integration of best practices.
  • Develop, or assist in the development of Request for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposal (RFPs), and business cases.
  • Conduct market research and benchmarks to ensure that prices / SLA’s are best in the market.
  • Qualify vendors and maintain an approved ICT vendor database and tracking system.
  • Serve as the primary interface between the service provider and the business.
  • Maintain contact with ICT vendors to manage the status and quality of service and the progress toward contractual commitments
  • Continually seek optimal value in service from vendors, reviewing and monitoring performance and return-on-investment metrics and initiating contract modifications.
  • Negotiate with specific vendors including existing and new vendors.
  • Pursue new vendor relationships as needed.

Position outputs:

  • Effective management of ICT transversal strategic relationship management with ICT vendors.
  • Effective management of strategic vendor performance and compliance to Transnet standards and policies.
  • Management of ICT processes, procedures, and management systems to ensure effective and efficient management of vendors.
  • Management of appropriate performance metrics relating to vendor management (e.g., the number of vendors under management, total spending per vendor).
  • Effective management of transversal ICT vendors as well as with Transnet Supply Management, Legal and Vendors.
  • Manage the development of Request for Information (RFIs), Request for Proposal (RFPs) and business cases.
  • Effective negotiations with vendors related to all services.
  • Recommend and report actions relating to procedures and organizational matters on vendor management and contract execution, which will lead to increased efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, Commerce, Business Administration or other related field is required;
  • At least 10 experience including 4 year management responsibilities in at least 2 disciplines in a multi-tier environment.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary IT outsourcing functions will be an added advantage;
  • Operations in IT account executive and contract management is an added advantage.
  • Experience in Customer Relationship Management practices
  • Experience with KPI’s, Management Dashboards, etc.
  • Experience in contract management negotiations.
