Manchester United have been dealt a hammer injury blow to Marcus Rashford. Rashford missed the clash with Liverpool on Sunday after limping off during the midweek win over Wolves. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he was set for a spell on the sidelines and it emerged during the clash that he had suffered a double stress fracture in his back.
Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler confirmed the news live on air, suggesting Rashford would be sidelined for two to three months. Speaking before the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed Rashford faced a spell on the sidelines.
Solskjaer said: “He got a couple of knocks [against Wolves].He’s had trouble before and we wanted to give him time to recover and rest properly before throwing him back in. He’s always recovered quickly before. I wouldn’t expect him to be back in the next few weeks.”
Rashford picked up a knock in the win over Norwich last week and started on the bench against Wolves. He was later introduced by Solskjaer but was forced off 16 minutes later, with the United boss admitting the gamble had not paid off.
