Guilty MaMkhize ordered to pay R4 million fine

ROYAL AM have been fined a massive Mkhize’s club for failing to honour four of their PSL promotion and relegation play-offs.

According to a statement released by the league on Tuesday afternoon, Shauwn Mkhize’s club were found guilty on all charges for all four matches which they were obliged to participate in but failed to do so.

The matches in which they failed pitch for were awarded to their opponents, which in this case was Richards Bay and Chippa United, all with a 3-0 goal difference.

In the league’s sanction, Royal AM were fined the maximum fine in terms of the NSL rules, being R1m per match (total R4m) with R700 000 of each fine (total R2.8 million) being suspended for two years on condition that, during the period of suspension it did not fail to honour any NSL fixtures.

This would mean MaMkhize, as the club’s president is known in entertainment circles, would have open up her purse and over pay R1,2m, including legal fees.

“The club was further sanctioned with a deduction of three points for each game not played (12 points in total) for the current season. This deduction is also suspended for one year on condition that, during the period of suspension, it did not fail to honour any NSL fixtures. Royal AM was ordered to pay all the costs of the sittings in the four matters,” said the league in a statement.

Mkhize’s club are campaigning in the PSL after she bought Bloemfontein Celtic and relocated it to Durban where they will on Wednesday play their second match against Cape Town City at the Chatsworth Stadium.

This is after their weekend’s 1-0 loss to Swallows FC.

It now remains to be seen whether the stubborn club will not appeal their fine and take the league further into legal nightmare.

Royal AM have taken the PSL to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland where they are fighting to be crowned GladAfrica Championship winners and Sekhukhune United, as it ended and according to the PSL’s updated log standing.
