Malusi Booi and 9 others corruption case postponed to 16 October

The billion rand fraud and corruption case involving former City of Cape Town Human Settlements MMC, Malusi Booi, and 9 others has been postponed to 16 October.

The suspects were all granted bail of between R25,000 and R250,000.

They’re accused of being involved in alleged tender corruption within the City of Cape Town Human Settlements Directorate.

Strict bail conditions have been set for Malusi Booi and 9 of his co-accused.

The State alleges that Booi and others colluded with alleged 28’s gang boss, Ralph Stanfield, and his wife, Nicole Johnson, to manipulate construction tender processes in favour of the couple.

NPA spokesperson Eric Ntabazalila said that they welcome the court’s decision.

“We’re also happy with the bail conditions which are almost the same as the ones we proposed that they mustn’t be in contact with the witnesses, directly or indirectly, and that they must not leave the country.”

Stanfield and his wife will join the group in the dock at their next court appearance in October.
