EFF leader Julius Malema describes eSwatini elections as a mockery of democracy
The EFF leader Julius Malema has described the parliamentary elections that took place in eSwatini on Friday, as a mockery. The party previously called for the country’s monarchy to implement democratic reforms.
Political parties were banned from participating in the elections, with only individual candidates allowed to run for seats in the House of the Assembly.
Malema spoke to the SABC on the sidelines of an event to celebrate his party’s victory in the ward by-elections in Wolmaranstad in the North West.
“It’s a mockery of democracy. Its a joke. There are no elections in Eswatini and what the king is doing is undermining the will of the people. The people must have their own political parties. If they are independent they will be independent. Political parties must be allowed to contest for political power. It’s a waste of time, waste of resources and they are not worth being called elections. We want a democratic Swaziland and we will continue to support the people of Swaziland

The South African Film and Television Awards 2023 took place on Saturday, 30th of September.
The 17th edition was held physically for the first time in three years due to the pandemic, it took place at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, Johannesburg with Zozibini Tunzi and Lawrence Maleka as hosts for the event.
