Maimane’s SUV sponsored by Steinhoff’s Jooste: report
Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane benefited from Steinhoff’s Marcus Jooste in the form of a car leading to the municipal elections in 2016.
According to Rapport, Jooste made the white Fortuner available to Maimane.
DA’s Federal Executive chairperson James Selfe has reportedly confirmed that the vehicle was owned by a car rental company and paid for by Steinhoff.
He says after the Steinhoff revelations, the party thought it best, under the circumstances, to return the vehicle.
Jooste is accused of insider trading, fraudulent finances and dodging taxes.
It appears though that Maimane had for months continued to drive the car, despite letters from colleagues warning him of the risks.
