Mahikeng Hospital has received 18 incubators.
This was after newborn babies were placed in cardboard boxes.
The North West Health Department says nursing managers have been placed under precautionary suspension.
Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla has slammed Mahikeng Hospital over the incident.
Phaahla says it is evidence of poor management by those in charge of the facility.
