Mzansi Magic cancels #TheThrone

Things are truly shaking up at the Mzansi Magic Headquarters. Soapies and drama series that have performed below par are being cancelled. The powers that be have seemingly decided that another one of the channel’s drama series, The Throne will be discontinued after October 24.

The soon-to-be-defunct drama series is produced by reputable television and film production company, Ferguson Films. Trailblazing TV shows such as, Isikizi and The Imposter have been wonderfully produced by this company, which is owned by industry power couple, Connie and Shona Ferguson.

On the other end, it seems a replacement for the slot that will no longer be occupied by The Throne has been found – 1Magic’s The River. However, the show will start airing on Mzansi Magic from its first season although it is already on its second season on 1Magic.

According to Isolezwe, Mzansi Magic’s, Karabo Morowa stated that the decision to pull the plug on The Throne was not influenced by any major problems besides the simple fact that it was internally known that the show would come to an end – as is the case with most telenovelas. We always knew that The Throne will come to an end as it is happening currently. However we are excited to delight our Mzansi Magic viewers with another sizzling drama series, The River.

The publication also established that Karabo had not confirmed which show will fill the slot that was occupied by Isithembiso in six months to come, as ZAlebs recently reported that it will also be coming to an end in April 2020.
