Police say investigation into Lusikisiki mass shooting at advanced stage, with hunt on for 4 more suspects

Police said investigations into the Lusikisiki mass murder were at an advanced stage, with a manhunt for four more suspects underway.

Eighteen people were shot and killed in Ngobozana Village in September.

One person, a parolee on a separate murder case, was arrested in connection with the crime and faces charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Police believe the suspects, aged between 20 and 31, will be able to assist them in solving the case.

However, the police’s Athlenda Mathe has warned the public to be cautious, as the men are considered armed and dangerous.

“Anyone with information on their whereabouts is encouraged to contact the SAPS [South African Police Service] organised crime or the SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes Investigation team on 082 302 7762. All information will be treated with confidentiality. Callers may remain anonymous. The four suspects are also advised to hand themselves over at a nearby police station.”
