Lorna Maseko features on a Times Square billboard
Renowned South African chef Lorna Maseko has been featured on a billboard in Times Square. She expressed on her Instagram page how excited she is to be featured, along with sharing a video of her billboard appearance. Lorna has been representing South Africa proudly in New York. She recently hosted a pop-up called ‘Taste of SA’ in the city where she presented South African foods, wine and flavour among other renowned chefs. South Africans were excited for the star, with even celebrities such as Lerato Kganyago congratulating her.
This isn’t the first time Lorna has made headlines. She also hosted a BBC programme where she highlighted proudly Mzansi food and heritage. Lorna is sure to put SA on the map as she continues to promote the food and culture of the land.
Lorna Maseko first learnt about her passion for cooking while appearing on the celebrity edition of MasterChef South Africa in 2015. She also captured audiences when she hosted Top Chef SA and shared her culinary adventure on YouTube. She has 11.6K subscribers on her YouTube channel where she shares her love of cooking and South African recipes.
Apart from her appearances on local TV, Lorna also appeared on the BBC Lifestyle show, ‘Homegrown Tastes South Africa’. As reported by The SouthAfrican, the show showcased unique homegrown cuisine and local celebrities. Lorna stated that she aimed to highlight SA culture on the show: “To celebrate South Africa’s incredible produce and the people behind the magic is what makes this show so special”.
Lorna has showcased SA foods across New York. As previously reported in IOL, she represented South Africa in her “Taste of SA” pop-up event. The event was attended by celebrities such as Jesse Eisenberg, Sawyer Spielberg, and Corey B.
Lorna seems to be on a roll as she appears on a billboard in Times Square in New York. She is helping to put SA on the map by presenting unique South African food and culture to the world. The legendary chef commented on her Instagram that she was speechless upon seeing herself on the billboard: “I really have no words or caption to capture this moment, literally my wildest dreams.
