Lockdown regulations: Restaurants propose alcohol solution

The Restaurants Association of South Africa has come up with a plan to resume serving alcohol in eateries in a proposal in a letter to President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The association said the government should allow the sale and distribution of alcohol for restaurants with valid liquor licences.
In areas with high numbers of alcohol-related trauma, tougher restrictions or bans can be imposed.

The association says alcohol should only be served if the customer orders a main meal, and they will be limited to two drinks per meal.

President Cyril Ramaphosa

The association says it’s pleading with the Presidency to consider its proposal so the industry can limit a job’s bloodbath. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday
