Eskom Board: Discipline has been key in load shedding suspension

It has been 97 days since the country last faced power cuts.

Unit 5 at Kusile coming online means this load-shedding-free period could continue even longer.

Nyati says this drastic improvement in energy supply is due to discipline from the Eskom teams.

Mteto Nyati, Eskom Board Chairperson:

“For the sustainability of what is going on, it is really the practices and behaviour that are important.”

After devastating load shedding last year, Nyati says there has been a huge focus on improving the processes at Eskom and maintaining the fleet.

He adds that having the right leadership at different levels within Eskom has been extremely important in fixing the electricity crisis.
