Eskom will be implementing Stage 2-load shedding from 9am. The utility warns the stages are likely to change at short notice and that the power outages could continue throughout the week.
It says its systems are under pressure due to delays on some generation units which were expected to return on Monday.
South Africans are urged to use electricity sparingly. Eskom says electricity demand has risen since January.
