Another dark Sunday as load-shedding continues

Stage 2 load-shedding will continue on Sunday. That’s the latest from Eskom, who says they’re still replenishing emergency reserves.

The utility said it would update the country on Sunday evening on the prognosis for the week.

“Eskom wishes to remind South Africans that there is a possibility of load-shedding over the next 18 months as we are conducting critical maintenance to restore the ageing plant to good health.

Eskom had the following tips for customers:

  • Set air-conditioners’ average temperature at 23 degrees
  • Switch off geysers over peak periods
  • Use the cold water tap rather than using the geyser every time
  • Set your swimming pool pump cycle to run twice a day, three hours at a time for optimal energy use
  • At the end of the day, turn off computers, copiers, printers and fax machines at the switch. Avoid standby or sleep mode.
