Stage 2 load shedding continues until further notice

Eskom has said that stage two load shedding will remain in effect until further notice as the utility’s emergency reserves have been replenished.

Stage three load shedding was meant to kick in at four o’clock Tuesday afternoon, as a result of higher electricity demand in the evenings.

However, Eskom says it has enough generated capacity to meet evening demand.

Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena said “Due to sustained adequate emergency reserves to manage the evening peak and electricity demand, stage 3 load shedding will not be implemented as previously communicated. Eskom will communicate should any significant changes occur.”
