It’s the holiday season, and people want to drink and be merry, but the government believes this leads to reckless and irresponsible behaviour, contributing to the spike in COVID-19 infections.
The sale of alcohol was completely banned during the harder levels of lockdown.
The Liquor Traders Formation has proposed that the sale of alcohol for off-site consumption continues. Many jobs are on the line in the liquor and hospitality industries. The number of infections in South Africa has surpassed 1 million.
