A municipal official was bust yesterday at a restaurant in Polokwane, Limpopo for theft, fraud, and corruption.
The 53-year-old suspect allegedly plotted with Makgato Community Property Association signatories to irregularly award a multimillion-rand tender to his wife for farming development.

Limpopo Hawks spokesman Captain Matimba Maluleke said in 2018, their investigations started into the improper awarding of an R4.8 million contract in the agricultural sector. “We have been working with the NPA to gather evidence that will ensure prosecution,” he said.
The municipal manager was handcuffed inside the restaurant in full view of customers before being put into the Hawks GTI and transported to Polokwane Police Station, where he’ll spend a weekend in the cells.
He’s expected to appear in Polokwane Magistrates Court on Monday.
