Limpopo Education Department looking to replace 10 teachers who died in horror crash

The Limpopo Education Department said that it was urgently looking to replace the 10 teachers who died in a car accident this week.

The department held a short briefing on Friday before its visit to the affected families.

On Tuesday, 13 people were killed in an accident involving a taxi and a truck on the R521 between Polokwane and Dendron.

Provincial Education MEC Wavungu Lerule-Ramakhanya said that it was important to fill those posts to make sure learners weren’t left behind academically.

“One of the critical issues that was raised was around the subjects that the educators were teaching, so that then, when we close, we need to have clarified that issue. I think from Monday the HOD and the principals will be starting with that process.”
