Families of trapped Lily Mine workers mark 1 000 days of waiting for help

The families of trapped Lily Mineworkers are upset about the government’s failure to help them retrieve their loved ones’ remains.

Pretty Nkambule, Solomon Nyirenda, and Yvonne Mnisi were trapped underground in Barberton five years ago.

Their families and community members have marked a thousand days of camping outside the mine.

This is a company that has shown us, including myself, the proof of funding, including the chief of the area and the plan to retrieve the container but still we can not do it and that is the question we are dwelling with almost every day,” said Harry Mazibuko, the families‘ spokesperson.
