Public Protector’s office rubbishes lies about state capture

The Public Protector’s office has rubbished claims that she is trying to clip Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo’s wings at the state capture commission.
According to a report by the Sunday Times, Busisiwe Mkhwebane asked to be allowed to help draft narrowed terms of reference for the hearings. It also reports that Mkhwebane said she could do the inquiry’s job at a fraction of the cost.
Mkhwebane’s office says it’s disappointed with what they labelled ‘blatant lies’. Oupa Segalwe, the spokesperson for the office of the Public Protector, said Mkhwebane was named as one of eight respondents in an application to extend the duration of the commission and filed an explanatory affidavit in an attempt to assist the courts.
