The 95 Libyan nationals arrested in connection with the discovery of an illegal military camp in Mpumalanga will be making their second court appearance on Monday.
The group was arrested late last month on charges of contravening the Immigration Act, after it was found they misrepresented themselves on their study visas.
Police allege the accused were receiving military training at the illegal camp, where officials also found military-grade equipment, weapons, and contraband.
Last week, court proceedings had to be halted due to a language barrier, with the State in the matter requesting the services of an Arabic-speaking interpreter.
The accused are now expected to indicate to the court if they require legal aid representation, which will only be granted on the merit that they qualify considering the charges against them.
The Libyan government committed to working closely with South African authorities to get to the bottom of the matter, adding that the accused were not affiliated with the government.
