Actress Letoya Makhene & her Girlfriend reach out to the poor – Pictures
Lockdown shows the difference between the haves and have-nots, but it’s also shown people’s generous spirit.
Actress Letoya Makhene has reached out to needy communities through her Letoya Makhene Foundation, Letoya and her partner Lebo Keswa were in Alexandra, north of Joburg and in Tladi in Soweto this weekend, handing over food parcels. The couple said they would also go to Randfontein for community work.
Serving soup to kids in Soweto, Letoya told Daily Sun: “We’re facing a very big pandemic and it’s needed all of us to intervene. My partner and I decided to give back to our people.”
She said the soup kitchen in Soweto is close to her heart as it’s outside her gogo’s house.
“The next one is going to be Mohlakeng in Randfontein, outside Lebo’s home.”
Lebo said: “Hunger killing people during lockdown is my biggest concern.”
She said people coming in huge numbers in Olivenhoutbosch, Centurion, on Saturday showed people were starving.
Thando Baloyi of Lady T Protection Services, who contributed to the food drive, said: “We can make a difference.”
