Missing Lesedi FM presenter returns home

Lesedi FM radio presenter Motseki Mabuya returned home on Friday afternoon after being reported missing on Thursday, 21 September.

His disappearance came after he allegedly expressed suicidal thoughts on his social media platforms.

It is also alleged that on the night of his disappearance, his media company had allegedly received an amount of nearly R 80 0000 from the Emfuleni Local Municipality for buying advertising space on various radio stations.

It is alleged that the police were called to his house weeks ago to settle a dispute between him and his wife. On Friday afternoon, when the police were still looking for Mabuya, he called the Vanderbijlpark station commander and said he was on his way and was about to take an exit on the N1 to meet with the station commander and assure him that he was still fine, but he did not turn up.

The publication tried to contact Mabuya and leave messages for him, even contacted his father-in-law, the Democratic Alliance leader, and Emfuleni councillor, to arrange a meeting with Mabuya, but instead, the father-in-law shared the message,

“We ask for respect for our privacy during this time of reunion and healing. We are pleased to announce that Motseki Mabuya, who was reported missing on 21 September, has won his battle. He has been located and is now safe and at home with his family.

“After an extensive search conducted by the family together with Vanderbijlpark police, Motseki Mabuya was found. He is currently receiving medical attention and care to ensure his well-being. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who were involved in the search and to all those who provided information and support during this difficult time. The bravest thing he has committed to is to live on,” the message read.

Mabuya is a presenter on Lesedi FM, also runs a media company, and is a well-known motivational speaker in the Vaal.

Vanderbijlpark police station commander, Brigadier Nikiwe Sefatsa told Daily Sun that Mabuya made a video call with his wife later on Friday confirming that he was back home and asking his wife to close the missing persons case‘.
