This week, in collaboration with Naledi Chamane of the STARCHAM’s FAITH FOUNDATION, Lerato Modise organized a charitable initiative aimed at providing essential items to schoolchildren who are often neglected and overlooked. Their joint effort focuses on restoring dignity and hope to children from disadvantaged backgrounds, demonstrating the power of community partnerships in making a positive, lasting impact. The initiative has sparked a wave of optimism, as it calls upon society to take collective responsibility for shaping a brighter future for the youth.

The first stop on their journey was Manzini Primary School in the Sunrise area, a place where many young learners face daily struggles just to attend school. It’s a reality that not all children have access to proper school shoes, and this lack of basic footwear can cause a variety of challenges, from physical discomfort to emotional distress. To address this, the REMLEE Foundation donated school shoes to the children at Manzini Primary, ensuring that they could walk with pride and confidence as they headed into their classrooms. With well-fitted, durable shoes, these students could focus more on their education and less on the discomfort of worn-out or ill-fitting footwear.

From there, Lerato and Naledi moved on to Vosloorus Comprehensive School, where another thoughtful donation was made. This time, the foundation distributed what they have termed “Divinity Packs,” which were carefully put together to provide essential hygiene products to students. These packs contained items such as sanitary pads, face cloths, toothbrushes, roll-on deodorants, and body lotion, all of which are necessary to maintain personal hygiene and self-esteem. For many students, especially young girls, these basic necessities can make a world of difference. They empower students to attend school with confidence, knowing that they have the tools to take care of themselves and feel dignified in their school environment.

Lerato Modise’s eyes sparkled with compassion and fulfillment as she watched the distribution unfold. Each carefully packaged item was not just a physical gift—it was a symbol of hope, empowerment, and care. She envisioned the smiles on the children’s faces, their boosted self-esteem, and the newfound sense of dignity that would accompany each item. In that moment, it was clear that Lerato wasn’t just handing out products; she was offering a sense of worth, better hygiene, and a more positive outlook on life for the children and families she touched.
