Learner stabbed to death, murder case opened

A grade 8 learner has died after being stabbed by another learner outside Forest High School in Turffontein on Monday.
According to Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, it is believed that the incident is a result of a fight that took place over the weekend.
The school has since been suspended for 48 hours. Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened.

No arrests have yet been made and the police are investigating the matter.
Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi says the department is reviewing the South African Schools Act.
Lesufi believes that disruptive students shouldn’t just be transferred to other schools as punishment.
He was speaking outside the school in Turffontein.
