Protests erupt at Wits over lack of accommodation

Wits University students are protesting against a lack of accommodation at the university. Police are monitoring the situation.
A video of students sleeping in the library has been making the rounds on social media.

The university says the students affected have failed multiple times and have lost their funding and accommodation for the year.
They also say money — through the Wits Hardship Fund — has been made available to those who passed and require temporary accommodation and support.
No classes have been disrupted.
There’s been a recent wave of protests against tertiary institutions in the country.
