At 12H09 Wednesday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the N2 North bound just before the King Shaka International Airport onramp.
Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a bakkie transporting industrial chemicals lost control resulting in the vehicle rolling several times.
The driver, an adult male sustained serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise him.
The passenger an adult male who was the only other occupant sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene.
Due to the severity of the drivers injuries the Netcare 2 specialised helicopter was activated to airlift the patient to hospital.
