Opposition parties describe KZN SOPA as grandstanding

Opposition parties in KwaZulu-Natal labelled the premier’s State of the Province Address (SOPA), an electioneering speech.
KZN Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube delivered her last SOPA for the 6th administration earlier today.
Her speech reflected mostly on the successes of the ANC-led government in the province.
Opposition parties accused her of purposely ignoring issues plaguing the province, including a lack of basic services.
She praised former KZN premiers for what she described as development in the province.
However, opposition parties have criticized her remarks.
DA KZN Leader Francois Rodgers said, “I think the premier and ANC are out of touch with reality, because if you listen to this very long and detailed SOPA, it appears there is nothing wrong in our province.”
The EFF’s Mongezi Twala described the SOPA, just as a campaigning tactic.
“It was just pure electioneering and pure grandstanding. The is still a high level of unemployment and crime in KwaZulu-Natal.”
While Rise Mzansi’s Nonkululeko Hlongwane-Mhlongo said the SOPA did not focus on the lives of ordinary people.
