KZN Police Commissioner orders station commanders to conduct regular community meetings

KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has ordered station commanders to conduct regular community meetings in a bid to fight crime in the province.

Mkhwanazi said that stations must conduct meetings on a monthly basis in this regard.

He was speaking at a community imbizo in Caluza, Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday.

“I have sent station commanders to hold community meetings in their policing areas on a monthly basis. The commander must meet all community stakeholders, including schoolteachers, traditional leaders, councillors, and community members.”

He said that the meetings would also serve as feedback channels to communities.

“Police will also provide updates on cases they are working in those communities and will also reflect the crime rate in that area and give feedback on court cases.”
