KZN Education Department employs safety measures to ensure integrity of matric exams

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has implemented strict safety measures ahead of the 2024 National Senior Certificate Exams.

This comes as over 190,000 candidates will be writing their matric exams in 12 days.

The department briefed the media on its state of readiness on Wednesday.

MEC Sipho Hlomuka outlined their plan to avoid the leaking of exam papers.

“We want to assure that there is no school that will not receive papers, we have a plan to ensure when the exam papers will be taken to schools.”

He said various law enforcement agencies would also assist in transporting question papers.

“We have appointed private security companies to also assist us. We are also working with SAPS [South African Police Service] and SANDF [South African National Defence Force] as I’ve already indicated.”
