KwaZulu-Natal: 13-year-old male presumed drowned in Durban lagoon

KwaZulu-Natal: At 15H35 Thursday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at the La Mercy Lagoon in La Mercy north of Durban.

Reports from the scene indicate that seven children from a local informal settlement were swimming in the lagoon when they noticed a 13-year-old male from the group was missing and is presumed drowned.

Netcare 911 with Ethekwini Lifeguards, SAPS K-9 Search and Rescue and NSRI Station 41 are all on scene in a joint effort to recovery the body.

As Mzansi celebrates the life of late apartheid stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, poet and musician Ntsiki Mazwai has thrown shade at those who she claims didn’t appreciate Ma while she was alive. Ntsiki took to Twitter in the middle of the trend to remind the people that she had called for September 28 to be declared Winnie Mandela Day but was shut down.
