Community living in fear following KwaMashu deadly shooting

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) in KwaMashu, north of Durban, has revealed how residents are now living in fear following the shooting and killing of seven people.

On Monday night, the men were killed in an alleged vigilante attack. The police confirmed this, saying their investigation into the crime continues.

The community of KwaMashu has seen a several shootings in recent months.

The recent deadly incident took place just a few metres away from the KwaMashu police station.

Though police have now cleared the scene, there are still visible blood stains under the bridge.

The publication spoke to Simphiwe Ntini from the KwaMashu CPF.

“The community of KwaMashu is living in fear, though the area where the incident happened is a bit of a distance from the houses – but it is not for criminal areas.”

The shooter in the latest incident is still at large.
