Defence gives State ultimatum to finalise investigation on Kirsten Kluyts murder

The defense in the case against a 21-year-old accused of murdering a Sandton teacher has given the State one more court appearance to finalize its investigation.
On Friday, the rape and murder accused made an appearance in the Alexandra Magistrates Court, where the State asked for three more months to complete investigations.
The student was arrested in October last year after the body of Kirsten Kluyts was discovered on a Sandton running trail.
The defence has objected to this request and it was agreed with the lead prosecutor that the matter be postponed to July instead.
But the accused’s lawyer, Advocate Itumeleng Masako, accepted this on condition.
“We are agreeable to the date of 11 July on two simple conditions: that it be marked final and that my learned colleague will send me a copy to show me what is outstanding. What is also troubling is for the four months, we don’t know what was done.”
