Police reportedly looking for who paid R800 000 to kill AKA

SAPS is curious to know the person who paid for the beloved rapper, AKA to be killed, a local publication recently reported. Like many fans, including AKA’s bodyguard Anwar Khan, the police allegedly want to know who coughed out almost a million rand to take out AKA.

According to the publication, one of the arrested suspects linked in AKA’s murder case, Mziwethemba Gwabeni (36), allegedly received an amount of over R800 000 to kill the slain rapper.

The late rapper and his long-term friend, celebrity chef Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane, were shot and killed outside Wish restaurant on the evening of 10 February 2023.

Gwabeni is said to be a businessman who allegedly used his business, Gwabs Mining, to receive the cash before distributing it to the bank accounts of the other co-accused.

Sunday World has also recently reported that the amount in question was deposited into Gwabeni’s First National Bank (FNB) account around 14:00, on the day AKA was assassinated.

The other suspects linked in AKA and Tibz’s murder case are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande (29).

The five suspects are currently in police custody in Westville Correctional Centre, where they will remain until their next court appearance.

Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande (Nxele) and Malusi Dave Ndimande (Mjay) were also arrested in Eswatini recently. They are in police custody in the country and are yet to be extradited to South Africa.

During a press briefing in KwaZulu-Natal last month, TshisaLIVE reported that police commissioner Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi revealed that AKA was the main target, adding that Tibz was merely caught in the crossfire.

Mkhwanazi shared that the rapper was followed by the spotter as soon as he landed at King Shaka International Airport, all the way to Florida Road, where he died.
