Police Minister Bheki Cele says the majority of kidnapping cases reported to the police came from Gauteng.
He says most of the kidnapping cases were hijacking, robbery, and rape-related.
Cele released the crime statistics for the fourth quarter of 2021/2022 on Friday.
The murder rate increased by 22.2 percent.
