Suspected kidnapping kingpin arrested in Gauteng

The alleged kingpin behind the spate of kidnappings for ransom has been arrested in Gauteng.

The police National Kidnapping Task Team arrested the 37-year-old man.

It has been reported that an intelligence-driven operation led the task team to an address in Brackenhurst, where the team pounced on the alleged kingpin and his three associates.

Police also recovered high-power vehicles, drugs, cash, and a receipt for sale of a R1.9 million property in Bryanston.

Police believe these items were acquired through money received from ransom cash payments.

Another suspect, arrested in Benoni, is also believed to be part of the syndicate.
